A.........NO DRIVE IN AHEAD

1. Insufficient oil in box. Low oil pressure.

2. Worn Seal on Operating Piston / Oil Pump Body. Low oil pressure

3. Worn Ahead Lining.

4. Control Valve Lever slipped on shaft.

5. Failure of Bearing TM 12021. Discolouration of oil.

B......... NO DRIVE IN ASTERN.

1. Insufficient oil in box. . Low oil pressure.

2. Worn Seal on Operating Piston / Front Main Case Body. Low oil pressure.

3. Worn Astern Lining.

4. Control Valve Lever slipped on shaft.

5. Operating Piston Circlip out of groove.

C......... NO DRIVE IN AHEAD OR ASTERN.

1. Insufficient oil in box. . Low oil pressure.

2. Worn Seal on Operating Piston. . Low oil pressure.

3. Worn Ahead and Astern Lining.

4. Control Lever Loose on Shaft.

5. Failure of Spring Drive Plate on Flywheel.

6. Failure of Planet Gears.

7. Failure of Bolts on Output Gear. ( Reduction Boxes)

D......... ENGINE STALLS WHEN AHEAD SELECTED.

1. (MK II) Failure of Bearing TM 12021.

2. (MK IV) Taper Roller Seized in Reduction Box.

3. Problem with Engine.

4. Rope round Prop.

E......... ENGINE STALLS WHEN ASTERN SELECTED.

1. (MK IV) Taper Roller Seized in Reduction Box.

2. Problem with Engine.

3. Rope round Prop

MISCELLANEOUS

It is not uncommon for the Reduction Gearboxes to be rather noisy at low engine revs, this noise normally goes as soon as the revs increase. Tick-over revs should be in the order of 750 rpm which should obviate the problem.
